Dr. Son Chau

Dr. Son Chau is originally from Hue, Vietnam and was in medical school there when the Vietnam War broke out. After the end of the war and the fall of Saigon, Dr. Chau and his wife Trudy managed to leave Vietnam to immigrate to the United States. He was intent on becoming a physician and went back to school, starting his undergraduate education in the U.S. at the University of Texas at Arlington. He graduated in 1984 in three years with honors in Chemistry. He then attended the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio for Medical School, graduating in 1988. After medical school, he moved to Orlando and completed residency in internal medicine at Orlando Regional Medical Center. He is board certified and has been in private practice since 1991.
Dr. Chau is one of less than 100 physicians nationwide certified as a Simply Speaking hepatitis speaker by Rush University Medical Center and Gilead and is credentialed as an expert speaker about Hepatitis B and C to community and professional groups. He also is active in the alumni association for his medical in Vietnam, most recently serving as president from 2015-2017. He also is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at UCF and was honored as a Preceptor of Excellence in 2012. He also is the winner of the Patients’ Choice Award for 5 straight years (2008-2012).
During his spare time, he volunteers at Shepherd’s Hope and leads weekly services at White Sands Buddhist Center in Mims, Florida. He also enjoys practicing his Spanish.
